Entreprise de construction d'engins mécaniques, fondée en 1887 par Charles Terrot à Dijon, filiale à l'origine d'une société allemande (toujours existante) spécialisée dans les métiers à tisser.
Terrot sera absorbée en 1959 par Peugeot, et principalement connue pour ses motocyclettes. Ce fut également un important fabricant de bicyclettes (150/jour ouvré) qui fit une brève tentative dans l'automobile avec une voiturette dans les années 20.
Il y a eu aussi durablement une activité de fabrication de landaus. Les 250 et 350 Terrot fabriquées à Dijon furent, avant-guerre, les motos françaises les plus vendues. La marque remporta les 24 heures du Bol d'or en 1934 et exporta des machines jusqu'au Japon. Il y eut une société espagnole jusqu'aux années 70, spécialisée dans les petites cylindrées TorroT dont TerroT est à l'origine. Des fanatiques les collectionnent aujourd'hui. En dehors de Motobécane, spécialisé dans les cyclomoteurs, Terrot est le plus gros constructeur historique français de deux-roues motorisés de moyenne et grosse cylindrée (600 000 exemplaires vendus).
On estime qu'aujourd'hui, 20 000 Terrot et Magnat-Debon existent toujours, et font la joie de leurs propriétaires lors de sorties motos anciennes.
Rachat de Magnat-Debon en 1922, et production de modèles sous les deux noms. Fabrication de motos et de scooters à Dijon jusqu'en 1959, puis transfert chez Automoto à Saint-Étienne. Arrêt définitif de la fabrication de motocyclettes et vélomoteurs 1961.
Quelques modèles (Rallye, Tenor...) portent la marque Peugeot pendant quelque temps (certains modèles portent le sigle Terrot jusqu'en 1964-65), et commercialisation de motos Peugeot jusqu'en 1970.
Des cycles sous la marque Terrot sont commercialisés jusqu'au début des années 1970. L'usine fabrique des moteurs Indenor puis de pièces mécaniques pour Peugeot jusque dans les années 90 puis elle est cédée à la société KSDSE, qui l'occupe encore aujourd'hui. source :

Dévoilée au salon de Paris de 1935, dont elle constitue la grande nouveauté, elle remplace à la fois la 401 et la 601 dans la gamme de Sochaux.
Voiture technologiquement moderne, la 402 est aussi l’une des plus belles Peugeot de l’histoire de la marque.
Si sa ligne aérodynamique dite « Fuseau Sochaux » est fortement inspirée (c’est peu dire…) de la Chrysler Airflow lancée un an auparavant, il convient de faire crédit à Peugeot d’avoir notoirement amélioré l’esthétique du concept.
Sa ligne élégante et fluide sera du reste reprise sur toute la gamme du constructeur jusqu’à la guerre. En plus de ce design audacieux, la Peugeot 402 présente avec ses phares logés derrière la calandre une innovation esthétique osée.
Les propriétaires de cette voiture , m'ont raconté, pendant la guerre 39-45 , cette 402 fut cacher en Suisse pour la sauver des Allemands.
